Find out the sex with a blood test?

I've never heard of this but at my 9 week appt today my OB said that anytime after 10 weeks we can do a blood test to find out the sex of the baby! I didn't know that was possible! I thought you had to wait until you could see on an ultrasound?

Answer

Yes, I got the Panorama test at 10 weeks and found out a week later that I'm having another little princess. But the test I got also checks for chromosomal abnormalities. My doc recommended it because of my age (I'll be 35 at the time of birth). I would double check to see if your insurance covers it. Sometimes theyvdon't if you are not high risk or at advanced maternal age.

Got mine at 12 weeks and confirmed by sonogram at 17 weeks that we are having a girl!
