OT: Northampton, MA?

Question

Anyone from or know this town and it's surrounding areas? We might be moving there and I'm looking for honest opinions, Pros and Cons about living there: crime, housing, activities, education, anything else... TIA!

Just asked my Hubby as he's lived here for 9 years and he says Northampton is actually a nice town with a great community. He can't go into great detail but says overall it's good. He says to stay away from Holyoke though which is right on the border lol. We live in Boston!!

I'm from the Northampton Ma area and it's such a cute, safe and charming area to live. I tried Boston for a few years and was so homesick I had to move back.  Northampton is very artsy with amazing restaurants that are mostly farm to table because of all the awesome farms surrounding. I own a business in Amherst, and can't say enough amazing things about the area. Northampton is the place to go for any kind of night lift can't considering the surrounding towns (Hatfield, Whately, south Hadley) are all farms towns and soooo nice and peaceful. My husband and I are so thankful to be living in a safe, quiet, farm neighborhood where we few up and will raise our children. I highly recommend ☺️❤️

To continue: crime is pretty minimal in Hamp, mostly drug related, but nothing like 30 minutes north in Greenfield where the heroin epidemic is a nightmare. Education is incredible here, especially the colleges (Smith is an Ivy League women's college right downtown.)

My wife and I live in Hatfield, 4 miles from Northampton. It's an incredible little town. Lots of great community, good food, a booming downtown shopping district. Very progressive and artsy, could definitely be considered hippyish and crunchy. People are very in tune with their health and local food and business here! Summer and fall are absolutely magical. Winter and Spring are cold and wet and very "New England."
