Anemia during pregnancy?

I went in for my gestational diabetes blood work and the Dr called me to let me know that came back fine but I am anemic and need to start taking iron supplements everyday. Has this happened to anyone else and has it effected anyone's pregnancy?

I'm anemic and need iron pills too especially cause I'm having a csection.  Dr told me my chances of needing blood are higher I was like wth give me those pills ASAP!

I'm anemic. I was before slightly but I guess it's a little worse now. I was given Integra pills and told to drink with a swig of OJ once a day. That's it.

Yes I am very anemic and iron pills make me throw up within 20 min of taking them..... Grrr

I had the same result. Was called to be told I had passed my gestational diabetes test but was anemic. I take Slow FE and it doesn't make me sick. I only take it once a day opposite to my prenatal.

Yep, thats me now. Exact same situation but the iron supplements are a struggle to take .

I just had iron added to my supplimens list too. I've dealt with severe constipation during pregnancy and it's only gotten worse since adding more iron. I've been instructed to add a stool softener everyday as well. Ugh... I hate taking pills.

When I tested in the first trimester of pregnancy I was fine on Iron levels but for some reason when I get towards the end I get anemic

Me too. I think it's pretty common, as baby is taking your iron. I don't think there's anything to worry about. The iron supplements do tend to cause constipation though so make sure your drinking water, eating fibre, and getting vitamin c to help your body absorb the iron.

I knew I had anemia halfway through my pregnancy. Only because I googled it and all of my symptoms matched. I can't do ANYTHING before eating first thing in the morning or I'll get close to passing out(took a shower one morning before eating and had to sit in the tub after just putting shampoo in and finish showering like that cause I almost passed out). I feel super clammy and light headed then I get dizzy. It really puts a damper on how my life goes.
