UK Mum's? ??

Question

Whilst I appreciate the communities on here and enjoy reading everyone's story I'm wondering if there are some uk ladies who are due in April. The main reason being having to wait 10-12 weeks before seeing a midwife then waiting for scans. How are you coping with this wait and is there anything I can do to attempt some sort of calm?!

I'm moving to UK in 9 days? Baby is a complete surprise and have no idea what to expect. Any advise?

I'm in Harrogate this is my 5th baby I have just moved here from Australia and I agree it's very unsettling that I can't see anyone till 10 weeks ! Didn't know of private scanning I will look into that too ! Thank you !!

Im not from the uk ( I did live there for 6 years if that counts at all :) )

Dont worry my midwife will not see my untill im a little over 10 weeks.

I cope knowing that if anything did happen I did the best I could before.

There can be alot of uncertainties going in early as well say- 5 or 6 weeks. The heart beat can be hard to detect as well as the bab y leaving you even more anxious till your 10 week appointment.

I'm in London and due April 6th. I feel really lucky because my doctor has been understanding about my anxiety and agreed to send me to the local early pregnancy assessment unit for a scan this week.  I was on the waiting list to see a fertility specialist after being diagnosed with didelphys when I got my positive test. I'm also due to go on a three week holiday to Canada next weekend and was really worried about travelling not knowing if everything is alright or not. I was a bit of a nervous wreck when I saw the GP so he took pity on me. If he hadn't I would have paid for a private scan.

The didelphys means I'm higher risk so I've also been referred for consultant led care.  My first official antenatal appointment at the hospital is at 10 weeks.

I'm UK, I'm due April 15h according to glow. Midwife here sees from 7 weeks, I'm seeing her at 9 weeks, and paying for a private scan at a clinic at 7 weeks for my own price of mind as I can't wait until the 12 week scan. I need my mind putting at rest!

I'm in London and due April 20th. I have my first appointment with a gp on Monday that then will refer me to a midwife. Any suggestions on a good practise in London? I think I will get some scans early at a private clinic if the wait is long for the first midwife appt..

Hey - UK based!
I was only just discussing this with my fiancé yesterday! Hate the fact that we have to wait until 12 weeks in this country.. The doctor wouldn't even do a blood test to confirm. We had a miscarriage last year & were told that when we fell pregnant again we could have a scan at 6 weeks for peace of mind.. Now when I tried to contact them we were told we had to have reoccuring miscarriages to be eligible.. It's going to be a long couple of weeks as only 5 weeks now....!

So it looks like I don't have to wait so long for my first ultrasound after all! I'm in Sweden with my fiancé at the moment and I woke up with central abdominal cramps and stabbing pain in my right abdomen. Long story short, I got checked out and they did a vaginal ultrasound where they saw the gestational sack but no baby yet, the baby is to small as I am only 4 weeks 6 days. My HCG level is 6,500 which is brilliant and I have been advised to have another ultrasound in a week due to the nature of the pain. So I have another ultrasound booked in for next Friday, in England this time and I will be exactly 6 weeks! All I had to do was ring my midwife who put me through to the female gynaecology ward, I told them what the doctor in Sweden said and that all the paper work they gave me was my ultrasound and HCG level and they booked me straight in. Such a smooth process which helped relax me even more.
