Hospital birth, assisted by doula?

I'm trying to sort out my options for a birth plan and leaning towards having a doula by my side at a hospital birth. Have any of you done something like this?

My second was a vbac in the hospital with a midwife. I used a doula for that birth, my midwife highly suggested I use one. I had a long 56 hours of labor and she really helped me (and my husband) get through it. With her help I was able to make it 51 hours and to 10 cm without an epidural and she helped me have a successful vbac. I'll definitely be using one again and will actually begin doula training after I have this baby.

I am a doula. I am open if you have questions about what a doula does.  Biggest thing is doulas can help you have a shorter labor! 2 of my last 3 clients were only in active labor for 6-8 hrs. with about 20-30 min of pushing
