Period while breastfeeding?

I've read that women can go months without having a period while they are breastfeeding. I'm about 6 weeks pp and of course I was bleeding after I gave birth but then the bleeding stopped for a couple of days and now I seem to be spotting. Could this be a period?

Completely normal if your EBF, it's called a bleed thru, I had it with both pregnancies right around 8 wks pp. Lasted a few days then stopped then came back again around 12 wks for a day or 2. With my firstborn my period returned around 6-7 months pp but was VERY irregular, would come like every other month until about 11 months pp then I became preg again. My 2nd my period didn't come until 10 months pp again got preg a month later but miscarried at 18wks. I am still nursing my 3.5 yo and 20 mnth old so nursing doesn't always stop your period it just delays it for awhile. If using as birth control it's only good for the first 6 months as long as your EBF, baby isn't sleeping thru the night and your period hasn't returned. After having my daughter I didn't have a period for 15 months. It's perfectly normal but you can still get pregnant while breastfeeding, it's not a birth control method. I was on the mini pill for 17 months before I stopped taking it.

This happened to me too but after about 4 days of spotting it stopped. My doctor told me that BF can actually cause spotting something that no one ever tells you. My LO is 3 months old now and I havent bled since.

I'm literally at the doc office for my 6week pp appointment and I just asked that question and the midwife said usually people don't get their period while breast feeding, but obv everyone is different. With my first baby I fed till 6 months and the day after I finished breast feeding I got my period! I've also finished my "post partum bleeding" but spotting now. I'm sure it's normal n everyone's different! Congrats on the little one btw!
