C section success
Hi all
Just wanted to come back on here with a positive c sec story for anyone yet to have one. My first was on Tuesday and honestly it was a fantastic experience. The epidural didn't hurt going in and once they put up the curtain I had my baby in my arms in less than 10 minutes. They then took 30 mins for the rest of the op and although it felt strange, I didn't feel any actual pain. I held my baby straight away and in recovery, after the c section he latched on for the first time for a suckle. I was in recovery for an hour with baby and husband, then moved up to the ward. The pain was manged by codeine, paracetamol and ibuprofen. With the option of oral morphine if I wanted it. Well day 1, I was standing and going to the toilet, all be it gently and slowly, and the pain has got less everyday. I wouldn't say it's been unmanageable at all. I've taken the morphine twice in hospital but that was to keep pain at bay. Saturday today and I'm on the paracetamol and ibuprofen only at home with baby and able to walk about fine - although still slow. Going to loo, making food and standing for 20 mins or so at a time has not caused any discomfort at all. Just taking it easy now, but noticeably better each day. I really wanted to share to our minds at ease. My section was actually a fantastic experience!
