Gum Disease??

Question

Any pregnant women been told they have a gum disease??  Also were you referred to have a deep cleaning??  Did you complete that??  Of so how did it feel during and after??

Also any NATURAL approaches to take care of the disease instead of what the DEntist suggested??

I thought I read also where you can lose your teeth behind periodontal disease.  Also I believe If you have to do a deep cleaning sometimes you are left with gaps between teeth and gums??  I'm not sure though.

I'm hoping one of these dentists in training can clarify that for you!!

Oil pulling with a tbsp of coconut oil. Let it melt in your mouth and rinse it round for 20 minutes. Don't swallow any of it! Once you've spat it out give your teeth a good clean.

You can have periodontist even if you aren't pregnant. If you don't take really good care of your teeth you can develop gingivitis. Kept untreated it will turn into periodontal disease and a scaling and root planing or "deep cleaning" is necessary to remove the bacteria trapped in the pockets under the gums.

There isn't an alternative, once you've reached this point the only way to remove the bacteria is the SRP.

Your gums get inflamed when pregnant so brushing and flossing is a must. Most dental insurances also offer an extra cleaning while your pregnant.

Remember brush brush brush, floss, floss, floss.

As an ex dental assistant, I would say listen to your dentist. Gum disease is not something you can just "magic" away. It happens when the white stuff (tartar) that sometimes gets stuck between your teeth (which can sometimes be magiced away) goes below your gum line. The only way to really do the job properly of cleaning it is to use dental tools. Good luck with it all xx.

I haven't been diagnosed with that and I have a teeth cleaning in September but when I found out I was pregnant I started having swelling and sensitive gums so right away I put a chamomile tea bag that had been in the hot water on my gums for a few mins and it seemed to really help with the swelling ! And now I just try to make sure I brush twice a day and floss and I got myself a soft toothbrush cuz my gums were sensitive.
