Most doctors won't do a blood test unless you already got a positive on the hpt. I would stick with hpt until you got your positive

Never had a blood test but the home pregnancy tests I did all said negative til I was 3 months gone I did all the different brands

HPT are cheaper and more convenient. However, a blood test is more accurate and can tell you a bit sooner.
