Moms? Raising kids with a religious partner?

My husband and I are expecting our first child in November. While we were both raised in religious households, but I definitely identify as Agnostic as an adult.  his uPbringing was MUCH more rightwing and conservative than mine. I was taught about the bible and all of that, but also taught to be accepting of all kinds of people. He was taught the judgey, intolerant type of Christian mindset that I probably don't need to describe for you to know exactly what I mean. He hasn't gone to church since I've known him (six years), but he still is deeply imbedded with some of the less than lovely teachings (we can't even have a discussion about abortion or homosexuality without me getting really upset). But fundamentally we have similar views, even though as a couple we don't go to church, we try and give back to our community "just because" and generally be good people just for the sake of being good. This is what I would like to instill in our kids, I don't believe I need church to do so. His family is super religious still, we do attend Church when we go to visit, I just sit there and try to feign interest. I'm wondering if anyone here has or is raising kids with a partner who perhaps has different religious views, or just more conservative than your own? What works as far as a compromise on how you plan to teach morals and values?
