Hour alone with baby after birth?

Question

My SO and I are considering having no visitors for the first hour or so after birth to be with our son. 
Has anyone else done this, and is a good choice rather than having visitors right away?

I haven't even thought about that!! Good thing to bring up to my husband tonight. I know we are doing family only at the hospital.

I will be having my 3rd c section in December. After my time in recovery they will bring me to a L&D room for about an hour before bringing me to the room I will be staying in. I plan for my L&D time to be just me, the baby, my husband, and 2 older kids. I know I will have some impatient family members in the waiting room. But letting me nurse and introduce the baby to my kids alone is important to me. I'm also going to ask that my fronds not visit until the next day. I'm not crazy about a lot of people holding my new born baby all at once

That's what we are doing. That's what's called the golden hour for bonding and breastfeeding. He can sneak out and tell our families me and our baby girl are healthy and they can wait an hour lol they're all fine and understand our choice

Absolutely agree, with my son we didn't let anyone come for the day and then the second day we only let our parents and siblings. Bonding with baby is such a lovely personal thing it's nice to have that time x

My hospital requires one hour for clean up and health checks, then prevents visitors for a second hour for breastfeeding, rest, shower, and bonding. Two hours felt like nothing to me and im almost positive I'll be asking for 3-4 ATLEAST. I was just barely done delivering my placenta and had only just gotten my baby to latch on! Everyone came in wanting to hold her and i really really wanted to be left alone with my baby.

My hospital kind of "enforces" that. Of course you can veto it, but they highly recommend it, and even say that they will notify all visitors that they cannot see you until an hour after birth, or more if you want. If

We were alone w baby after my emergency c section. Probably better part of 2 hrs. Then we let my bff come in, because it was the middle of the damn night and my husband had called her to come down to be with us in case something happened and we lost the baby, frankly. We had a quiet visit and then we sent her home in a cab. With this baby we plan to have our now 4yo son come in to snuggle and chill out with us. He will be the first to hear boy or girl, and first to hear their name and meet them. Everyone else can wait IMO

We're not gonna have any visitors at the hospital , Maybe my in laws and that's it. I don't get along with my side of the family , but we made it clear no pics on Facebook or announcing until we decide to announce.

My husband and I lived out of state with our first and it was the most amazing bonding experience...I am actually dreading having visitors this time around.  There is already enough going on with the baby! I also don't want to take this moment away from my son bonding with his sister.
