Who else is going all natural??

Question

This is my 1st and i want to go natural. My sisters and my best friend had an epidural and they think im crazy lol.. please share ur experience with or without epidural. As im getting closer im starting to get scared lol

I'm planning on going natural as long as everything goes well. Have you read "Ina May's Guide to Childbirth"? There's over 100 pages of natural childbirth stories that have really helped me to not be scared of childbirth and to really embrace what our bodies are naturally meant to do :)

I would love nothing more to go natural with this pregnancy. With my daughter made it 38 hrs from the initial start of the pitocin without any drugs. My doctor and my family finally convinced me I needed to get the epidural and rest or I wouldn't have energy to push because I had been in hard labor so long without progression. We didn't anticipate what happened next. My body would not respond to my contractions and dilate. So after the epidural, I went from a 1 to a 10 in 4 hours. If my body decides not to progress again, I won't wait 38 hrs for the epidural again. I will get the dang thing to move things along! Haha

It's a good thing I caved when I did too because she started to struggle and I almost lost her. I do not know if she could have survived another 12 hrs of hardcore labor.

I had an epidural with my first. I hated being a fall risk and unable to even go to the bathroom by myself. And I hated the hospital experience in general. This time I'm seeing a midwife at a birthing center and if I move closer to family, I will be having a home birth since I can't find a freestanding birthing center.

Go natural but don't say no to help if you need it!
I've had one assisted birth (Gas and air and ventose) and one natural. I accepted help as needed. The ventose was needed, both baby and I were exhausted. Second time I was very in charge and knew I didn't need help.

Total labor was 6 hours. Only 40 minutes of that was spent at the hospital before my first was born. I should of probably gone a little bit earlier but I didn't. Actually only pushed 3 times. It was over beige I knew it and I forgot the pain immediately. I felt almost back to normal by the time we left the hospital. My plan is to go natural with this one two.

Had previous 3 natural not gonna change it for this one! This little one will be at home so won't even be an option. I love being able to get up right after baby is born if I want to and not be restricted in any way :) good luck!

I've had both experiences with and without an epidural. With my first child, I opted for the epidural after I couldn't take the pain any longer.  The birth went smoothly. I had an episiotomy with stitches (didn't feel a thing) and I was calm during the whole birthing process. With my second child, my water broke as soon as I got to the hospital. I was only three centimeters dilated and went straight to ten after my water broke and my doctor told me that the baby was ready to come out and that I needed to push. I had no choice in having any pain medication as I had just arrived at the hospital. I experienced "the ring of fire" while pushing and it felt like a bowling ball coming out of me. I didn't want to push, I was so scared thinking that I might not make it through labor.  It was chaotic, lots of screaming and yelling. It seemed like there were a ton of people in the room. It was not a good experience for me because of the chaos.

I've been watching birthing videos and I have come to the conclusion that if I do have to go natural again I would have a water birth. Being in the water seems to calm and soothe a woman in labor and I would like that experience for myself.

Everyone experiences things differently. Do what you need to during labor and just be prepared for the unexpected.

2 natural water home births--- number three will be the same but at a birth center! You'll be amazed at how strong you are and what you're body can accomplish!

I didn't have any pain Meds or anything for my first, and I'm happy I didn't. I was able to listen to my body and everything went well. :) hoping to do the same with this baby too. There's a higher possibility I might need to get a c section tho.. Hoping I won't!!
