I have an MTFHR mutation but not on the main one. There's actually 30 genes but only 2 that people usually test for. Mine doesn't allow my liver to detox properly and my doc just has me on a twice daily supplement for it. I believe there are supplements you can get that have folate in its purest form (which is what you need since the mutation can't break down the more complex versions I think) so I would speak with your doc for recommendations on what to take/eat.

I would 100% recommend an active folate (5-MTHF/ 5-methyl-folate) supplement if you can tolerate it, and focus on lots of legumes, beans and green leafy vegetables in the diet each day, as they are the foods richest in natural folate.

It is certainly possible to still receive enough folate with the MTHFR gene, for both you and baby.

I tested positive on both strands but my homocysteine levels are normal. You only need to worry if your homocysteine levels are not normal. There are over the counter (but more likely over the Internet) supplements you can take to be sure you are getting adequate folate. I take Vessel Care by Metagenics. The folate and B vitamins are already broken down in a way that people with MTHFR can process. There are prescriptions as well but if you go that route make sure it's got L Methylfolate and not just Folic Acid (like Folgard).  Let me know if I can help!
