Flu Shot

My husband and I are waiting on the all clear to start trying again. My doctor mentioned that I need to make sure to get my flu shot before I get pregnant. I've never had a flu shot and really never planned on getting one. I have reservations about getting it and I'm finding very conflicting information online when trying to find facts. What's your experience and opinion?
