D&C - Bizarre update
Hi - I had a d&c for a blighted ovum/missed miscarriage last Thursday. I was starting to feel better except for some cramping and constipation, on otc pain meds. Today (Sunday), i woke up feeling icky after not being able to sleep very well. I stayed in bed most of the day and slept. Was feeling a little better later but still out of it. Then early evening, I went to the bathroom twice with first very painful constipation and then diarrhea. I also felt my fever coming up and it is now over 100. I don't have bad bleeding or cramps, no bad smell and my stomach is better. It is now 11:30 at night where I live.
Should I wait to call the dr first thing in the morning? Or head to the ER now if the fever sticks? I'd like to avoid going tonight but don't want to wait until morning if something could go very wrong.
Any advice is appreciated.
UPDATE (9-1-15): thanks all so much for the feedback and kind thoughts. Fever gone after being put on turbo antibiotics. And as she saw some tissue leftover in my sonogram, I went back in for a second D&C today and there was an extra doctor there as it turns out I have a heart shaped (Bicornuate) uterus... They might need to do an additional procedure if there are clots in the top of the "heart" that they couldn't access via d&c. To be continued tomorrow.
Doc says this didn't cause the blighted ovum but I will discuss the implications for future fertility/pregnancy with her tomorrow and an MRI (reading way too much for my own good on google right now) when she will also test my Hcg levels to see if there is still lurking tissue in there.
Wow, what a couple weeks this has been. I live so far away from family back in the U.S. My husband has been wonderful but it's lonely and a bit scary to be dealing with this here.
I'm exhausted but can't sleep so figured I'd share my bizarre update with you all... :)
