Frustrated and concerned

About 2 weeks ago I missed 2 days of BC. On the 3rd day (when I realized it) I took 2 pills for the missed days and then took 2 pills the next day to get back on track (just as directed in case that happens). However, I started my period early (on the day I realized I missed the pills). I continued to take the pills after getting back on track and my placebo week started almost a week later. My period continued for over 2 weeks and I will be starting my new pack of BC on Tuesday. My period got light and I presumed it stopped yesterday, so my man and I had sex (multiple times between yesterday and today). My period seemingly started again today. Would you say that my body is doing this because of the hormone imbalance or what? Tell me I'm not the only one this has happened to.
