Can I get a prescription myself?
Me and my boyfriend of 2 years have been relying on withdrawal for almost a year. I know that there is a small chance that you can get pregnant from this and I try to take caution in that. Now that I'm entering an important and busy time of my life, I'm starting to realize that a possible pregnancy is not what I need right now. I've been looking into birth control for over a year now, but I have no one to talk to about it. My mom has gotten my older sister on the pill and she's only 18 months older than me. But when it comes to me my mom constantly procrastinates in scheduling me an appointment. She does not know that I am sexually active and I don't feel comfortable telling her that because we don't have a good relationship. She isn't very dependable and I know that if she does make me an appointment, I'll never get my refill prescriptions on time. I'd really like to just do it on my own or possibly go with my boyfriend's mother to get prescribed birth control but I'm not sure if it's legal and/or I'm too young to do it myself without a parent's consent. I also want to look in to getting an implant but my mother will most likely disapprove because that would require a lot more work than just getting prescribed to the pill. Is there any place where I can go to get birth control on my own even though I'm 16? Also do I have to let my mom know in order to get it?
