Nuvaring and emotional side effects?

I have not been on BC for over 6 years because the pill made me absolutely emotionally crazy. I was incredibly angry and mean.

Now, after having two oopsy pregnancy, I know I need BC.

I put the Nuvaring in yesterday, is it possible that the ring is the reason I feel hopelessly depressed??? I mean, it's only been one day!

When I was on the Nuvaring (I'm not now because of insurance) I had about a week of intense hormonal swings, like crying to commercials.. Haha. But after that my body balanced itself out and I loved it! I would still be on it now if my insurance paid for the full amount!

I stopped using the Nuvaring because  it made me feel depressed. I had been using it for at least 3 years. I was moody and sad most of the time. I opted for a paragard IUD a little over a year ago and the sadness I experienced is completely gone.

I think having it in for just a day may be a little too soon to tell if it has that negative effect on you but if you still feel the same after a month try another type of bc or just go with something hormone free. Good luck!

Just looked up the active progestin and estrogen in Nuvaring- it takes 7 days for the medication to reach the needed concentration and work effectively (similar to birth control pills). Since it's only been one day, it would not be the medication.
