TTC First Child

My husband and I have been together for 7 years and have been married now for a few months. We have recently been trying to start a family. I told myself that if I am not pregnant by next month I will take a break and try again next year so we don't take away from the fun of trying and instantly stress. I'm 25 and my husband is 26. I have had ovarian cysts in the past (nothing major or damaging) and was on birth control for a total of 6 years to tame them. I have been off the pill for 9 months now and have regular menstrual cycles. I'm already starting to feel defeated that it may be difficult to get pregnant as most women in my family have endometriosis and have miscarried 1-2 times prior to them having their first child. They also had kids younger than myself. Any suggestions for me? Should I just be patient and hope for the best?
