Hungry...but trying not to get fat? 5 weeks pregnant.

I am currently 5 weeks and three days. I have been sticking to a caloric goal and doing a really good job at being active. I obviously know I will gain weight this pregnancy, but I want to do it in a healthy way. The women in my family tend to put on a lot of unnecessary weight during pregnancy which I want to avoid.

I have felt really great these past few weeks, but today was just CRAZY! I woke up starving, but also nauseous. I couldn't tell if I had to eat or puke, but eating helped ease the sick. Well I ended up eating two fiber granola bars, a blueberry bagel, a cheese stick, 3/4 a box of Mac and Cheese for lunch (it sounded delicious and I rarely splurge on things like this!) And I just polished off a steak and roll for dinner! My doctor says I don't need to add any calories to my diet until second trimester....but I seriously felt like I just needed to eat today? I am definitely hitting my protein goals each day so I am unsure why I was so hungry. Does anyone have any tips or at least experience with this?
