Should I give my daughter his last name?

So I've known my boyfriend for almost 4 years. We have been together on and off (I was too young when we first met so we waited until I was 18, I am 19 now and we have been together for 4 months) throughout that period. I am currently pregnant with another man's daughter. He is totally okay with this, willing to raise her as his own. I've taken his son into my life as my own also, he has started to call me mama (he is 15 months). I don't know if I should give my daughter his last name or not. The father is not in the picture never will be, not even for child support. He has decided to sign his rights off, which I am totally fine with. But should I give her my boyfriends last name? I do plan on marrying him and he made is very clear he has the same intentions.

Give the baby your last name. Leave the father spot blank on the birth certificate. Then when you get married, he can legally adopt your baby and you can change the last name. Best to do it this way as we have a family friend who is dealing with a horrible situation for not doing it that way.

I wouldn't do this just for the fact if you do break up I wouldn't want him having rights to your daughter I would give her your last name and if one day you do get married maybe have him legally adopt her

I would say no for now but maybe reconsider when you are married. If you've had a relationship with a lot of highs and lows I'd wait until there is that formal commitment relationship-wise to make a formal commitment name-wise.

Since he's not the bio father and yall aren't married...leave it blank and give baby your last name. If he means what he says, he will love that child like his own no matter what and can give yall his name when he follows through on marrying you. If not, you just saved yourself a TON of complications and headaches...as well as money for court costs. I know it's easy to say "yall don't know him...we will get married." But I would've NEVER guessed i would be divorced, in the best relationship I've ever been in with the guy I practically moved HS bc of, and pregnant with our first child. I thought it was my ex and I till death. Some things are just worth waiting and seeing.

I would give your child your last name until you're married, then he can legally adopt her and change her last name, assuming you plan on changing your last name as well after marriage.

My in-laws just did this, my brother in law has been the only dad their oldest has known even though she's not biologically his, the difference being her bio dad didn't sign any paperwork because he just went awol from both the military and his marriage, so it was a few years before they could have my brother in law legally adopt her, but now they all have the same last name.
