How are close relatives/friends' responses to your baby's name?

Have you mentioned your baby's name to others before giving birth? If so, how was the response? My in-laws have been unsupportive and nasty- I am wondering if anyone's also been faced with this...

I showed this to my boyfriend. Now he is dead set on Gotham as a middle name for a boy. Hahahaha I'm alright with that.

Everybody has an opinion on what to name your child. And part of that opinion is why you shouldn't name your kid what you picked out.

I'm not telling anyone. Not even my husband until it's much closer to due date so not even him can change my mind.

(We agreed that I could pick the name as long as it starts with the letter of his choosing)

My mom tried to make me name dd Lucy... blech! I chose Sophia and a family name for her middle name, it's beautiful but my mom has talked shit since I told her what I decided.

My husband and I have been trying for 18 months and- as most of you know- it has been a roller coaster of emotions, Dr visits, hormones, shots surgeries, etc... At this point, we just want the family to shut up and allow us to name our future child whatever we want, I think we deserve that much at this point 😁It has been not just one or two, but numerous conversations from MIL abt how she hates the name- she is trying whatever tactic she can to get us to change our minds. Over it. Let us get pregnant first and then just be happy for us, sheesh. I finally spoke my mind to her and FIL and feel better abt it. But I will never disclose a name again, lol. Thanks for letting me vent, yall!

We named our daughter a not so common name so they were all that's weird but ok. They still to this day misspell it and she is 16 mths old. MIL was upset we didn't give her the middle name she wanted us to even though BIL gave that middle name to one of his kids and it is SILs middle name and she still hopes to have a little girl someday and if she does she wants to give her that name. We are trying for #2 now if it is a girl we will probably be fighting over a name the entire pregnancy cause our daughters name is the only girl name we could agree on so they probably won't know the name til the birth :). If we have a boy we will keep the name a secret cause we are naming him after our dads so we want it to be a surprise at the birth.

We told them names we liked. Named our daughter at two days old. They tend to keep it to themselves once it's on a birth certificate!

I got a really mixed bag of responses. My family was happy because I named my son my great grandmothers maiden name. My In laws really didn't like the name.

Everyone was concerned my daughters name was spelled wrong. There are two spellings.

You ultimately have to pick the name you want.
