Piercings in The Office

Azkadellia • Currently just trying to get my body to do what it`s supposed to. Lesbian.
Okay, so I'll be going to the Alaska Job Corps center, either at the end of this year or beginning of next year. Depending on room available after my interview next month. I know that Job Corps themselves will not allow me to even keep my small nose ring, so I'll more than likely have to let that close up while I'm out there for the year of my training program. I'll also have to cover my tattoo.
I'm going for Administrative Assisting, which I know involves being in an office all day, filing, taking calls, directing clients, and all that good stuff. Which, brings me to my question I suppose, after I leave Job Corps, I will get my nose re-pierced because it's literally so small, and the way my nose is set you can't really see it unless you're looking directly at it.
My question though, is, do you guys think it's okay to get my lower lip pierced? Nothing too big, but something that can be either a stud or a ring. I know, a lot of companies these days are more open and okay with body modifications. However, I've gotten a lot of mixed emotions and responses on my question about piercings, from family and friends. I've yet to ask any companies or business what they think, as I'm not currently seeking employment.
I don't wish to waste anyone's time with seemingly pointless or stupid questions. I just, really want this lip piercing, it's a part of how I want to choose to express myself. Apart from my nose stud, and tattoo I'm a pretty clean cut, simple person. I don't have tons of tattoos, or stretched ears, or anything like that.
All my modifications can be covered or taken out when needed, I've also been looking into getting retainers for my nose stud, so I can keep it open without causing issues. I'm just, frustrated kind of I guess, because I really want this piercing, but I don't want to risk any potential good jobs, over it. Any advice, or anything would be helpful!

It depends. Most places view piercings and tattoos as unprofessional. Some place don't. I would hold off on getting anything done until I found a job and knew the policy.

I think your nose ring would be fine. As for your lip, most office settings wont allow it. I would just talk to the person in charge wherever you work.

Honestly it just depends on the place of business. Some are more lenient than others. I wouldn't do anything until you speak with the actual place you will be working amd ask their view on piercings.

I have a nose and lip ring nothing big... I'm a nurse and work in a hospital. I also have 34 tattoos that I don't have to cover. It depends on where you will work I guess. Just because I have tattoos and piercings doesn't mean I can't do anything that any other nurse can do. I went to school and learned the same things they did I just don't hide the fact that I have tattoos and piercings and I made that clear before I was hired. That was one of the reasons they hired me, because I was straight forward about what I was looking for and how I presented myself. People will judge you regardless so be yourself.

Do not get a lip pearcing. It's unprofessional and people won't want to talk to you.and employers look at your appearance as to wether it's something their company is about and feels like you represent their company. If it's like a tattoo place where you work they won't care. But a professional business job it's unprofessional. Majority of jobs will require you to take it out and cover any tattoos and take out gaged or wear the clear or nude plugs. Do not get the lip piercing until you have a job and can talk to employer about the policies of piercings

I'm covered in tattoos and have had many piercings. Neither of these things are worth the risk of not being able to put food on the table

I've worked in the administrative side of two different medical offices in 8 years and neither allowed visible piercings other than ear lobes, and those must be studs. There is a nurse that has tattooed sleeves, and she must wear the long sleeved shirts with thumb holes, so they do not show at the cuff of the shirt sleeve. There is also a strict dress code of no long nails, excessive jewelry, bright makeup and strong perfumes or lotions. It's been an excellent job field for me and the restrictions don't bother me, but something for you to keep in mind that the rules may be more stringent when you are job seeking.
