Pump membrane?!?!

How often do you change out the white flappy membrane? Or how do I know when to change it?

I believe Medela said 2-3 months. I had to after a month. And make sure you take them off the yellow piece when washing or it will wear them out quicker.

I decided to change mine since its been a month now and I'm glad I did! I hadn't realized that I had lost some suction. I didn't get dramatically more when I pumped but I got a little bit! I usually get 3 ounces after a power pump session, tonight I got 5. Could be a coincidence but I don't think so. I also noticed my nipples were sucked into the flanges a lot more than usual after I changed the membrane. I think I'm gonna stick to changing mine monthly, they're cheap to replace anyways.

Yours may be different than mine but on mine you have to take it out and wash it each time.

I had this same question yesterday! I had heard you should change them once a month but then I browsed the manual that came with the pump and couldn't find a mention of it anywhere! I'll keep looking and let you know if I find anything!

Mine are made by May mom but they are compatible with medela. The yellow part comes off but I've never removed the membrane to wash it. I just rinse my flanges and pump parts with scalding hot water.
