Spotting

I'm 29 and my cycles have always been very regular, never been even 2 days early/late, and always consistent symptoms. Husband and I have been ttc for 3 months, and today I have heavy spotting a full week and a half before my period. Never had spotting before, except when stopping birth control. Could the spotting be a super early pregnancy sign? My husband is convinced it is, but I don't like to get my hopes up.
