Does inducing labor after 40 weeks with a soft and effaced cervix cause a higher risk of c-section?

Answer

It will increase the risk but it's not a forgone conclusion. Often it will result  with a normal delivery.

They say it increases the risk but I have had three vaginal inductions at 41 weeks for my singles and my twins were induced vaginally at 38 weeks. #6 was due today so we are looking at another inductions around 41w3d.
