Is not speaking up the same as lying?

I'll try to keep this short and to the point. So I was raised Christian, as I got older my beliefs changed and I no longer affiliate with that religion and I don't believe much of what is in the bible. I like Christian music and recently went to Women of Faith with my grandmothers, my mom, and my boyfriend's mom. Those women (and most people in my life) all believe I'm a Christian and I've never corrected them but I feel like it's a lie not to. I'm just scared I'll be judged for my beliefs. I guess I'm in the closet about my faith.

I don't think your silence is lying in this case, especially if you have a family that is strict and very religious. That is what my family is like, and my father is a pastor, but neither I nor my brothers believe in the church we were raised in. Two of the three of us don't even believe in God. But if we said any of this it would cause a huge fight and a falling out with our father. So we keep it to ourselves and participate for important stuff to keep the peace. None of us think it's wrong because we love our parents and know it would hurt them to think we were all going to hell or something.

It is hard coming out of that atheist closet, especially when family and friends are"believers". It helped me because my brother, a couple friends, and fiance were also atheist. Find people to discuss your new beliefs (about the universe and nature) so you can better explain yourself when the time comes.

No not really, not in a case like this.  In a case like this it is more about avoiding conflict, then being deceitful.  The biggest problem i see you having, is as you grow and start a family, your family is going to be very shocked and confused when you refuse to raise your children Christian.

Yes it's lying and since you're doing all those Christian activities with them, it's also deceitful. Rest assured though, you're not the only one attending that's fronting.  Smh

Been there!! I was raised pentecostal. I wasn't allowed to color or cut my hair, ware makeup, ware anything other than skirts or dresses, or do anything a normal teen did. I completely changed and now you would never be able to tell I grew up pentecostal. My family hates it but they have come to accept that I live for god in a different way.

I live in my mom's house where my mom is wicken,my step dad is Mormon , and my so is Christian.

I myself am a atheist. So you would think we would all clash. But we don't.

Just try talking to the person you feel the most comfortable with tell them you aren't connected like they are and that you don't believe like they do. You have freedom of religion.

If they get mad than they do but they will get over it.
