overweight & TTC?

Question

I'm overweight by a lot, wondering what my chances of conceiving are? Anyone 250+ that are pregnant/had a baby?

Why would being overweight affect your ability to conceive?

I just want to put this out there because I worked in an obstetrical clinic in a hospital for 3 years- If you are really big you could have difficulty finding a doctor willing to perform a c-section on you if you needed one (I'm taking 350+) because the risk of complication is too high for insurance reasons. We had a patient over 400 pounds once and the only doctor who would do it was the head of the entire department. It is best for mom and baby to be in a healthy weight range when you conceive.

Don't give up my Aunt is about 300 lbs or more and has pcos bad and got pregnant first time... Her son is now three.

I conceived at 200lbs after losing 60lbs

I know of a lot of women who have gotten pregnant that are close to that.   If your cycle is normal and you are ovulating than you shouldn't have any trouble. If you don't ovulate normally, I suggest going to see a gyno and see if clomid would be a good fit for you. It helped me get pregnant the first try after years of ttc. Good luck to you!
