This morning my husband told me that my MIL invited us on a double date with her newest boyfriend...to a tavern. She's an alcoholic, she has been in rehab twice for alcoholism and still drinks. Alcoholism runs deep in my family and so I try to avoid any social scene that serves alcohol, the only bar I've been to is a little pizza pub and even then we eat outside away from the bar and drinking (I'm also pregnant so I'm not drinking AT ALL which she had a problem with at our wedding). Oh, and my husband doesn't drink, so is it ridiculous to ask for them to change the place of the date to more of a restaurant? Or should we decline altogether?
