Cervidil anyone?

Anyone have experience with being induced with cervidil? Your experiences and input appreciated :) 
 
I am going to be induced at 39 weeks bc of big baby. Last baby I was induced but it was with pitocin. Which sucked. I'm hoping cervidil will do the job and that I won't need pitocin. My midwife plans to break my water depending on how the cervidil works then let me get up walk around and labor. I'm hoping to go without epidural since last time that was also an awful experience.

I was a full two weeks over due with my second son and they induced me, they gave me a round of cervidil, the doctor said contractions would start in no time! Hours later still nothing! Second round of cervidil, still nothing! I was in the hospital a full 24 hours before labor even started, which took pitocin to progress. Then they had to break my water. From the time I was admitted to the time I had him 48 hours had passed.

I thought cervidil was to soften the cervix and pitocin was to start contractions? I don't really know how it all works, but with my first I had cervidil for the first 12 hrs I think then given pitocin. With my second they said I didn't need cervidil and just gave me pitocin. Much quicker.

Cervidil anyone?
