Pill abortion?

Question

I haven't heard much about the abortion pill. Anyone had any experience with it? What's the criteria for taking it? Any side effects? Where can you get it (does it have to be an abortion clinic? Mine is several hours away)? I would like to know as much about it as possible. Thanks in advance.

I got mine from planned parenthood. In my experience, you do have to go to a clinic or something to get it because they check you out to make sure you're actually pregnant and everything is okay physically. Then, they give you pills to take and you take them at home. It is really painful for about an hour or so and then you just have a really heavy period for about 2 weeks. They also give you nausea pills and pain pills too but they didn't work for me because I couldn't keep anything down. After the pain went away though I felt back to normal and actually better than I had felt the entire time I was pregnant because I had terrible morning sickness and food aversions. The pill was the right choice for me because it felt more natural and less invasive than surgery. I wish you the best of luck. Feel free to ask any other questions and I'll help in any way I can.

I wish I could've done the medical abortion instead of surgical.... I had no complications however I wasn't offered any pain medication other than ibprofen.. I also wish I could've done the process on my own at home but no one knew about it

I also went to planned parenthood. You have to watch s video 24 hours before you get it done. Then you go in the next day. They take blood, you talk to someone to make sure this is the right choice for you, then they do an ultrasound internally. They will ask if you want to see the baby or if you want to know if it's twins. Then you will see the doctor. They give you one pill there and then you have to take another one within 48 hours. It's very painful and you might throw up with the second pill. My period was back to normal the next month

If you take the nausea & pain meds before the second pill will that help keep you from hurting so bad & throwing up? How soon can you take the second pill?

Oddly enough they actually give you 5 different pills (2 of which are considered the abortion pills), the others are for pain, nausea, and infection. The criteria for getting abortions vary by state, but I'd assume you do have to go to the clinic for it. To me it is less invasive, though may be more painful, and bleeding for 2 weeks isn't exactly ideal. Both procedures have their pros and cons, but generally women are confident in their choice regardless. Best of luck and question anything you aren't comfortable with (a waiting period, the transvaginal ultrasound or even the blood test if you know your blood type)
