18 weeks is 5 months?

So when I hit 18 weeks I started telling people I was 5 months, only because I've been reading what to expect when you're expecting(an old version I realized) it said the 5th month begins approximately 18 weeks. My friend who is due the same time I am practically kept shoving it down my throat that it starts at 20 weeks not 18 and I should stop bumping up how far along I am. I was kinda like "ummm but I wasn't :/" I didn't just pull it from out of the air, it was something I read from an old yet reliable book. I mean I'll post the chapter below, I just didn't think she needed to get so mad with me. She hasn't spoken to me since:

I just posted below, but I just got why she is saying that. She is going with every month is 4 weeks. So in her mind, 20 weeks would be 5 months. But, if you did that, woman would be pregnant for 10 months, not 9. Not every month is 4 weeks, that's why there are charts to follow. I was confused about it when I first got pregnant. Maybe try to show her a chart and explain?

I am pregnant at the same time as a good friend of mine. We are due two days apart. This is my first and her second and she has really had moments of struggle over the fact that I am pregnant at the same time as her. At first it really upset me but I have just decided what a stupid thing to lose a good friend over and just have been the bigger person and have kind of ignored the fact that she has been really feisty about the two pregnancies.

Oh my gosh, that's a ridiculous reason for her to get mad! And she's not speaking to you now?! Maybe it's just her hormones out of whack for the over the top reaction??  I haven't ever looked at a chart, so like your friend, I've been just assuming every month is about 4 weeks, so I would have thought that's about 4 1/2 months, but I'm glad to know now how it works. I'm actually 18 weeks tmrw, or about 5 months along :)
