How strict are (or were) your parents?

I'm somewhat strict and my almost 14 year old thinks I'm the meanest parent ever. Guess I'm doing it right...lol

My dad allowed me freedom, there were limitations. But if I went out against it, those consequences were just a lesson. I actually made a lot of my own rules. I never went out on weekdays, and went to bed at 10pm all through high school. It was never anything he stated, but I thought it was best for me. I never gotten in trouble with the law, but have had my "rebellious" teen years. He knew I would go out and drink or party. But I was never allowed in a car with a drunk person. I was to stay put where I was but if I REALLY just wanted to come home no matter what time, all I had to do was call him. I don't think he was too strict, but he wasn't too uninvolved either. He just worked a lot. So I had to figure out my own schedules/routines. And did what I wanted on weekends. Although most of the time I stayed home and played with the poochies. Lol. At 22, I still follow a lot of my old high school rules. Lol

Somewhat strict,  however I'm glad that they didn't allow me to do just anything. Until after h.s. I had to ask to have company over, inform them about where we were going & who with. Couldn't have the opposite sex over to spend the night. Couldn't just TELL my parents I was going somewhere. Sundays were "cleaning day". Couldn't wear inappropriate clothing. Couldn't really wear makeup unless it was approved until a certain age. They had to meet guys before we went on a "date". Never disrespected my parents.

My parents were very strict until my senior year. Then they knew that I was responsible enough to manage myself and trusted me to be self sufficient.

My mom was a strict parent and I'm glad she was.
