Breast and formula?

FTM and just had my little girl, a week today. So I'm breast feeding but it seems that she's not getting enough even when I switch boobs. I was told to try formula at night for like her last meal. any tips or ideas on what's going on.

What makes you think she is not getting enough?  If you do start supplementing be prepared because your milk supply will go down.  As long as you nurse on demand and the baby is gaining weight then you won't need to supplement.

Try massaging your breasts while she is feeding. This can help the milk flow faster. If she is feeding for long periods (over an hour) and still seems hungry, talk to a LC. My little boy was doing the same thing at 1 week old and it turns out he was not sucking effectively and was not getting much. It was recommended I continue to BF for 15 minutes in each side and then supplement until he figures it out.

You may need to supplement with formula, we do. My lactation consultant also recommend it . Our daughter eats, then I pump to help increase my supply.

How does is seem that she hasn't had enough? Is she cranky all the time, not wetting diapers often or what?
