SAHM's: I don't know if there is a lot of polls like this one but will you be going back to work after the youngest goes to school? If not, why?

I was in another forum not this GLOW and someone was talking about staying home and her kids were 8 years and older. So was curious....

That was the plan. However, with 4 school aged kids who pick up every bug going around in school, and a hubby who works 12 hour swing shifts, it's impossible to find a job that accommodates my hours of availability, and offers flexibility if one of my kids is sick (which is quite often). My hubby will be out of a job in a few months, so we don't know what we're gonna do. 😨

Yes. In some form or another. My purpose for being home now is because my husband and I agreed that we thought it would be best for our family if I stayed home with the kids and raised them while they're little. Not only do we feel that it's important for them but I wanted to be there for all the first milestones and we would rather have me home than pay for daycare. After they're both in school, I want to work outside the home. It makes me feel fulfilled in another part of my life. My husband supports me no matter what. That is what works for my family and what we are happy with. Other families have different structures and needs and how they decide to navigate that is their business. No one should be judging the way each family decides to do it.

I was planning to go back to work after our second was born, I've been home for 3 years, and then we found out we are PG with twins.  Gonna be another 6 years before I go back to work 😂😂.

I wish I could be a housewife for the time my kids (hope I'll have kids, just ttc for 1,5 year..) will go to school. I think there is much more interesting things in life then working at office etc. but it def would depend on the financial situation in my family.

Well by the time our eventual youngest (#4) (just under 5 weeks preg with #2) is old enough to be off to school I'm sure our farm and house and such will be plenty to keep me busy plus around here kids up to like 4th grade or so have to have a parent get them off the bus so I'd have to be here not elsewhere.

The plan right now is to start working part-time/ nights next August just to get our saving account in order but that could change if my husband gets deployed.

I was but my husband thinks someone should be home when the teenagers get home he feels that this is the time that they need us the most I agree could you imagine what they would do if left alone till 7 at night lol

Im a sahm for now.. I stayed at home with my son for 1st year and had no choice but to work as me and my bd broke up... Got back together got preg and broke up ( i learned ) got with a great man and raising my 3 year old at home while attending college for nursing..she starts vpk in aug so i will go full timw in school

I wont be going to work but I will go finish my degree. I took a break from school after my 2 year old was born and actually had just started the process of going back to school when I found out I was pregnant this time. So I would love to finish it out so I can become a History teacher one day. 😊
