Vaginal soreness?

So two days ago my vagina was seriously aching, kinda like it does during my period. Now yesterday and today it's just plain sore and hurts, doesn't matter what I do. I've never experienced this before and it's just getting to the point of annoyance. Aside from possibility of an infection, are there any other causes or reasons for it?
