Anyone get sick with cold/flu during first trimester

I woke up with an itchy and sore throat. Throught the day it got worse and now I am super weak. No pregnancy sickness, but more of getting a cold. I know it's not safe to take medication during your first trimester and I am 5w4d and want to know has anyone else gotten sick and had to take medication. I don't know if I should go to the doctor or not because I haven't even had my first doctors appt. They will not see me until 9 weeks which is another month. Help anyone
