Are UTIs common?

Hi! I know that not many people talk about UTIs, thy are embarrassing. However, I feel that I get an obscene amount of them! I find that it always after sex, yes even with a condom. Is this common? If so how can I avoid it?

I've had 2 in the first year of my marriage. It's awful, but I have learned to always pee after sex and if I can't then I take a shower. Also if I feel like one is coming on the Azo pills do help to stop it. But if it still is painful after 3 days I would suggest to go to the dr.

Drink plenty of water and pee at least every 4 hours. Holding urine for longer than that allows bacteria to multiply in the bladder and urinary tract. If you don't feel like you need to pee every 4 hours, you need to drink more water! Avoiding sugary drinks and food can also help because it starves off the bacteria by making it harder for them to get the energy needed to multiply. And like several other poster said, always pee after sex!

They're super common. To prevent it, I usually take cranberry pills (they're like $4 at Walgreens) after having sex with my bf, those really have been helping me. I also, if possible, take a shower afterwards. I haven't gotten one in over a year taking these precautions 😁

I used to get UTIs a lot and every time I got them the guy used a condom. I've never gotten one without a condom though so it could just be the condom that causes the cause they have more bacteria. I always make sure to pee right after sex so I have less of a chance of getting a UTI and also showering after to stay clean and get rid of bacteria

I get them all the time - however I have a scarred kidney and seem to be more prone to them.

I personally have had thousands and I'm 16. Except mine are MRSA Staph, ecoli and other infections. But you need to see a urologist, they aren't normal. Normally women get 1-0 in their lifetime.

Yes they are common! I've had a few and they are awful. So painful! You should always make sure you go pee after having sex and that should help to avoid them.
