My husband thinks that children should not be given allowance for the things they are supposed to do like chores and good grades. He believes that giving children incentives will not make them perform better and that we have to teach to do the right thing without giving them rewards for good behavior

I on the other hand think giving children allowance teaches them responsibility and prepares them for the real world. They work and have money (they worked for instead of me just handing them money for nothing) to spend on when we go out to the mall or to the movies, fair, etc.
