Maternity leave vent

I just secured my first teaching position this year. It's part-time, so even though I can't stay home with my daughter full time like I wanted, it's better than nothing. Being a first year teacher, I don't qualify for FMLA and the school doesn't pay for maternity leave. So, pretty standard as far as most women working in the U.S.- just 6 weeks with no pay outside of PTO/sick time. But to add insult to injury, my district has added attendence as part of every teachers' evaluation. Our contracts state we are allowed 10 paid sicks days and two personal days a year (which I realize is fairly generous compared to what many poeple get) BUT, we will receive a failing score on our evaluation (scored as "ineffective") if we use those days. We can only get a high score if we use 3 or fewer days in a calendar year-even though we are given 10. So, I'm essentially being punished for having this baby- since I'll be out for 6 weeks. Complete bullshit! I'm already fed up with this job.
