Still in shock with my birth story
Mamas on their second or more pregnancies- listen up! I was prego with baby #2- due date was sept 15th.
My first labor and delivery went smooth. I labored at home for 10 hours, got to the hospital at 830am, was 6cm, got the epidural, had baby girl at 1223pm.
THIS labor and birth was a much different experience. I was on a walk with my mom on sept 16 in the afternoon telling her how I was feeling discouraged like this baby would never come. At my 40 week appt I was 3.5 cm and 50% effaced, -3 station. I also got my membranes swept.
Well the day goes on and we put my 2 yr old to bed at 7pm. I went to go pee and saw my mucus plug in my underwear. Around 8 I started noticing steady contractions but they weren't that painful. Around 9pm they started to get stronger. We got to the hospital at 11 pm. I was in crazy pain with contractions back to back. I was put in a triage room in L&D on a gurney. The midwife checked me and I was 7cm. My water broke soon after. I was moaning, screaming, crying through each contraction. I was begging for the epidural. They told me there wasn't enough time and that this baby was coming. I was TERRIFIED. Going natural was never the plan. She checked me again a few contractions later and I was 10cm. They called in a huge team of people to come help. I could feel his head pushing lower into my pelvis with each contraction. I felt like I had to push. I was losing it! They were all yelling- "you can do this! Do it for your baby!" It was the most intense experience of my life. Baby came at 11:51 pm.
So the point of my story is- if it is your 2nd or more pregnancy- and your plan is to get the epidural- get to the hospital in time! I know this was the birth I was suppose to have and it showed me what I was capable of but it was not what I had expected! Good luck mommas!
