Transgender question
Ok, this may come out wrong because I don't fully understand the plight of the transgender community. As far as I'm aware, I've never personally known one so haven't had someone who knows that I can ask questions. And I'm not trying to get myself or anyone else bashed, I just have a legitimate question
So I'm watching Law and Order SVU, an older episode. In the episode, there is a transgender 13 year old. Born male, but came out as a female at an early age. She wears female clothes, bras, etc, her mom refers to her as her female name, etc. At one point of the episode, the detectives are at her home and want to ask her a question, so go upstairs and the mom knocks on and then opens the door, leading the detectives and the camera men into the room. The girl (still has a boy body, hasn't started female hormone treatment) is seen in the process of putting a bra on, but the bra is still around her stomach. It then shows her pulling the bra up and around and on, full frontal. Now my issue is this, she's a female, male body or not, so should she not be afforded the same modesty as a female? No TV channel would show a 13 year old female (born female) putting her top on, and I kind of feel that transgender females should be treated in the way that their gender would be treated if born with the attributes that they live as. But then there's the issue of transgenders who were born female being treated as a full male, even if they have the female version of breasts, and treating them as males and allowing them to be topless like the male born males. Thoughts?
