Should i give him a second chance?

I dated a guy from february till late March. Things started off good but then he came up with all these random reasons why he didn't want a relationship with me. I stupidly let us become friends with benefits even though i wanted something more. He was very critical in bed by telling me all the things i wasn't doing during sex to the point where he almost felt verbally abusive. Things basically ended on its own when he told me he was pursuing a long term relationship with a girl he met on tinder. Now he's texting me again admitting that he screwed up and wants to try and make things better. The obvious answer would be hell no but i still feel conflicted... I still think about those times when he was so sweet to me.
