Will i rip? TMI!

I'm a FTM to be and most of the time that im intimate with my SO, my perineum rips a tad and i bleed for a little bit. Does that mean that I'm more likely to rip during labor??? He's not rough buts does have a decent girth

That happens with me too sometimes, and I was wondering the same thing!! Im glad I'm not the only one. I think I'm going to try massaging soon, hopefully it helps!

This is common during pregnancy (especially if it's a pre-existing issue).  Your skin changes with crazy hormones, so you could be dry/tight..perhaps more personal lubricant?  Try different positions and have HIM adjust (ex: scooting a half inch up can make a huge difference.. Evidence-based 😳.)

Message may help, but most likely it won't. Don't push fast and hard ( easier said than done) a good doula can help with this. Allowing baby to naturally stretch you is best in preventing tears. For this, breathing baby down instead of pushing works best. Look into hypnobirthing and j breathing. You can find info on YouTube. A good midwife or on will apply a warm, moist compress to your perineum during the last stage of birth. This feels amazing and takes away the ring of fire so many women talk about. Most people don't know that birth is an ejection reflex, just like pooping and throwing up. If you relax and let it take its course it will happen all on its own, with out any pushing at all. Some women even orgasam at birth! It sounds crazy but it's true.  Look into organic birth as well. Preparing for labor now with breathing and relaxation techniques will help. People do tear in the water, but is does help with pain.

Ftm here too. I have heard you can massage that area to help prevent tearing. Also if you think about when having sex is an in and out motion where giving birth is mainly out (baby can go back in a little when you are not actively pushing) that could make a difference too. I would just tell your doc your concerns and see what they say. Good luck

My OB/midwife & L&D staff said you can massage all you want but if your going to tear nothing will prevent it😕but doesn't hurt to try!

I was lucky with my son 14 yrs ago!! I did not rip at all, a little tear on the inside that needed 2 stitches ! Everyone is different !! Massage is the best!!

I think I read that about half of women end up tearing or having an episiotomy. It's scary but it's normal and you should be fine in the long run, they will stitch you up

A slow and relaxed approach to all things associated with stretching your precious area is the way to go, definitely consider perineal stretching during your third trimester.  Good luck!
