Does a baby shower theme need to match the theme of your nursery?

My mom and husband think the theme of the baby shower needs to match the theme of the nursery? Do they?

I'm having a gender reveal baby shower that is bee themed and my baby's room is giraffe and elephant themed.

Mine was little baby boy rocker and yes it matched my nursery because in case people got me things for the nursery they would match. So I did the invitations in black white and carribean blue and they matched exactly what his room looked like. Just depends on your tastes and if you previously let people know the theme of the nursery so they have a direction on what to by you. :)

My daughters shower theme was a peas in a pod and her nursery stuff was jungle themed so no I don't think it matters muc.

We pretty much matched but it definitely doesn't have to.

My shower is bumble bee themed and my pseudo-nursery is sort of swan/ballerina themed. One does not have to do with the other.
