Good excuses for not drinking?

Well, it's Saturday night and I'm supposed to go out with my husband and friends. We're trying to keep our ttc on the down low with these folks and I'm in the middle of my tww and want to avoid both alcohol and questions...anyone have any good ways to dodge the questions?

I find a way to corner the waitress alone or head to the bar and order and sprite with a splash of cranberry or a non-alcoholic beer just to avoid questions (and I tell the waitress why and they have been awesome at just saying "here's your drink" instead of spilling what I ordered). If I am at someone's house the most recent trick I did was to buy FRe (non-alcoholic wine) and pour it into another wine bottle and bring that with me.  Since I tend to like the sweeter wines my friends don't ask to have any bc the label looks like I'm drinking a reisling or sweet red 😉

Ive been telling people that I'm trying to give up caffeine and alcohol to be more healthy. There's a lot of calories in alcoholic beverages so you could say you are cutting back your calories/carbs. I've also said my husband was the driver last time so this time I have to drive,  we take turns.

So it wasn't that bad. A few weird looks when I didn't take any drinks offered by my friends, but then the bar tender gave me a soda water with limes and everyone thought it was a vodka soda 😉. Thanks for all the ideas!

I always just say I'm the DD for the night. We live 45min from town so it's super believable. :)

Sober January! It's actually a thing. Or you can say you're just getting over a cold or on some meds that you can't drink with.

I don't drink at all, so I just say I'm the designated driver and people leave me alone about it. That's true, too, since I don't drink I'm always the DD.

I fake drink it: club soda with a splash of cranberry. Hubby will tell the bartender early in the night and give a good tip and then they just know not to put any vodka in it, but to serve it in a cocktail size glass with a lime and no one even knows!
