With my first I ended up having the epidural. Not sure if that's because my contractions were helped with Pitocin or what. But I went in saying I wanted to see how long I could go before the epidural and just to tell me when I needed to make a decision.

I would try natural forstbthen if it gets too unbearable get the epidural. Why not at least try.

My OB said that in order to have a VBAC, you need to be on an epidural, that way if an emergency were to occur, you are prepped for a repeat c section. VBACs have their own risks and should not compared to healthy,normal vaginal deliveries.
