What kind of test could I be expecting?

Im 12 weeks 1 day today and I have a doctors appointment tomorrow. I agreed to a test to check if my baby is high risk for down syndrome. My doctor simply explained it as an ultrasound and some blood work and left it at that. I just read on CVS and other *invasive* tests, could I possibly be getting one of those tests tomorrow? Even though my doctor never mentioned it would be invasive? Im pretty concerned and frankly would be upset if my doctor isn't telling me the truth. I dont want to do any invasive tests because I know there is a risk of miscarriage.

I had the ultrasound done and everything was fine, then my doctor sent me to get the blood work done. I didn't ask for any test or know that's what the blood work was for now they sent me a 350$ bill for something i didnt ask for.😵

From your doctors description it sounds like you will be having a Nuchal Translucency screening done. It really is just a sonogram where they measure the amount of fluid under the skin behind the babies neck, and blood drawn from you. It's not always accurate and they may offer you more invasive options to confirm DS if they have reason to suspect it may be.

When I had my 12 week scan the sonographer measured the amount of fluid at the back of the baby's neck and I was also sent for a blood test. The results came back in the post and basically just tells you what the chances are of your baby having downs. Mine was something like a one in 1,500 chance.

I had this same thing done. I had the blood work and ultrasound. if something came back wrong with either of those I would have had the option to get the more invasive testing done.
