Pregnancy safe ways to stop smoking addiction?

Question

I know people who smoked throughout their entire pregnancy and we're fine, my mom did with me and all my five siblings too. But I want to stop! I'm having a hard time with being able to simply go to the store and buy more should I eat one, are their any kinds of gums or patches I could safely take while pregnant? What helped you? I'm 12w 3d. Please no judgement. I know it shoul be easy to stop because it's bad for the baby, but it's so hard. I'm 20 and have been smoking since 13.

When I found out I was pregnant I tried to go cold turkey and of course that didn't work for me. I caved and bought a pack. I cut down to 2-3 cigarettes a day. After a week of feeling horrible I decided to quit all together. I carried a bag of hard candy with me and every time I had the urge I would eat a candy. It helped a lot! It will be a week on Thursday that I quit and I personally feel better and can't stand the smell on the husband anymore. I still had a small urge today but it wasn't as bad as the first few days. You can do it! Try different methods and there is even an app you can download to help you stay on track.

Every time I was tempted to buy cigarettes I would put the money in a bank for my baby.. it's easier said than done but it's nice thinking that I'm doing it all for her

Your local health department should have free programs to help with that. You should also try your nearest WIC building. You don't need to be on our apply for WIC but they do help with stuff like that. I can't tell you how many pamphlets I've gotten about helping me quit smoking when I've never so much as looked at a cigarette haha

I still smoke at 33 weeks & I tried to stop so many times !! But I see did cut down to where I don't even buy packs may smoke one a day !! But best of luck too you

I don't know what you smoke, but go and buy the worst brand you can think of and smoke them til you get sick.  I smoked Marlboro Menthols and when I found out I was pregnant with my 1st I wanted to quit but it was hard. I got a pack of Camel Lights and smoked 2 out of the pack and didn't pick up a cigarette the rest of the pregnancy. It was so nasty and had a horrible taste...lol. It helped though....lol. It's been really hard for me too!!  Since I found out I was pregnant I cut back to 1-3 cugs a day.. Just taking hits off my SO's cigs.  It kept me sane.  Then last week I got the patch and that has helped tremendously!  It doesn't make it easy but it makes it barable enough that I can breath through and distract myself from cravings.  I've been a smoker for about as long as you have.. Started young, addicted physically, mentally and emotionally..  It's NOT an easy thing to eradicate!

I havent smoked in 4 years and I just stopped cold turkey one day.. but its not as easy for some. You could try weaning yourself off by using a vape.. that's how both my mom and sister stopped.. you can buy the juice for the vapes and each time get one with a lower percentage of nicotine and then go to nicotine free... plus the vapes help with the need to inhale, and the juice it's really just vegetable juices with flavor additives (tastes much better than cigs btw) and water.

I had a pack or two left when I first got pregnant, I can't remember exactly, but I finished them and told myself once they were gone I just wouldn't buy any more. I cut down so much because even though I would think about how my mom smoked with me and my sister during her pregnancy and we were born fine, I still felt guilty! So the last pack took a while for me to actually get through. (I initially was smoking ~half a pack a day before I conceived) I started eating jolly ranchers when I wanted one, and it really helped. It was like a habit every time I got in the car I would smoke, so I substituted a cigarette for a jolly rancher lol. Made it so easy for me! However it was also a lot easier for me to quit than I thought. I didn't need any patches or anything like that. I think I've smoked maybe a handful throughout my whole pregnancy, I randomly would really crave one and take one from my sister- but they stopped tasting good to me and I had to force myself to even smoke it, I never would end up finishing it. I never smoke anymore. I think the jolly ranchers helped immensely!
