At the very least you need the folic acid before you get pregnant. I took sublingual folic acid until I got pregnant because I hate pills. The other stuff is important, don't get me wrong, but taking folic acid before you get pregnant can prevent like 70% of neural tube defects. That's like spina bifida which is not a defect you want your baby to have.

Start on them now and a lot of practices have you take OTC instead of RX anyways. Must make sure it doesn't have over 50% Vitamin A in it.

Over the counter is good to start!! My last doc said I could even continue those if I wanted the rest of the pregnancy. This time I have ones by enfamil.. Two bottles, one for DHA. Very good so far.
